Current Information:Born-Southwark Gunners Farm Military Cemetery, Belgium 11th Royal West Surrey (Queens) were formed in Lambeth in June 1915 and arrived in France a year later as part of 123 Brigade, 41st Division. Between 1st June and 4th June, 1916, they were billeted at Le Bizet, just north of Armentières where every available man was employed working on the communication trenches, Border Avenue, Barkenham Avenue and Smyth Avenue, that led to the front line. It was while on one of these working parties that Frederick Bartlett was killed in the early hours of June 2nd, 1916. |
